ABOUT US
Our Story
Sting Guard started with one hive in the backyard and a lot of questions. Beekeeping has a way of teaching you things you don't always learn from a book. Sometimes, you learn the easy way. Other times, the bees make sure you remember the lesson.
Our founder, Bradley, has had his share of those moments. One afternoon, while working in the apiary, he lifted his veil for just a second to wipe the sweat from his face. That was all it took. A bee made its way straight toward his ear, and suddenly, he was running across the yard, waving his arms while the neighbors watched.
It wasn't exactly his finest moment, and it's still a story that makes him laugh.
But there's a serious lesson behind moments like that. When you're working with bees, you want to focus on the hive, not worry about your gear. You want a suit that fits properly, a veil that stays in place, and clothing that lets you move comfortably, even on a warm day.
That's the thinking behind Sting Guard. We want to help beekeepers find protective gear they can feel comfortable wearing and rely on for their work.
Gear for Everyday Beekeeping
Every beekeeper has their own way of doing things. Some spend an afternoon checking a few backyard hives, while others manage larger apiaries and work with bees almost every day. The equipment they choose needs to suit the way they work.
At Sting Guard, we focus on the essentials: beekeeping suits, jackets, veils, and gloves. We believe these products should be practical, comfortable, and made with attention to the details that matter when you're out in the apiary.
Beekeeping Suits
A good bee suit can make a big difference to your time around the hive. You need suitable coverage, room to move, and a design that works for the conditions you're dealing with.
That's why we offer different styles to suit different preferences, from traditional cotton suits to lightweight and ventilated designs. Features such as strong stitching, useful pockets, secure closures, and well-designed veils all deserve attention when choosing a suit.
Whether you're preparing for your first hive inspection or replacing a suit you've worn for years, we want you to find an option that works for you.
Beekeeping Jackets
Sometimes, you don't need a full suit. A beekeeping jacket can be a practical choice when you prefer separate protection for your upper body.
Comfort matters here, too. You need to reach, bend, and handle frames without feeling restricted by your clothing. The fit, fabric, ventilation, and closures are all worth considering.
We offer jackets for beekeepers who want a practical option for their time in the apiary.
Bee Veils and Hats
After Michael's experience, you can probably understand why we're particular about veils!
Your veil is one of the most important parts of your protective gear. You want it to provide suitable coverage while giving you a clear view of the bees and enough room around your face.
Different beekeepers prefer different styles. Some like a traditional round veil, while others prefer a fencing-style design. The important thing is choosing one that suits your needs and works properly with your protective clothing.
Beekeeping Gloves
Your hands are busy throughout a hive inspection, whether you're lifting frames, handling tools, or checking the condition of your colony.
A suitable pair of gloves should provide the coverage you need while allowing you to work as comfortably as possible. Material, fit, and cuff length are all things to consider when choosing the right pair.
We offer beekeeping gloves to help you complete your protective gear and prepare for your time around the hive.
Why the Little Things Matter
When you're choosing a bee suit, it's easy to focus on how it looks. But once you're wearing it and working around a hive, the smaller details start to matter.
How does the fabric feel? Can you move your arms comfortably? Are the pockets where you need them? Does the veil give you a clear view? Is the suit suitable for the weather you'll be working in?
These are the kinds of things we believe beekeepers should consider.
We pay attention to practical design, materials, construction, and comfort because protective clothing should suit the work you're doing. Different beekeepers have different needs, and what works well for someone managing hives in cooler weather might not be the best choice for someone working in the summer heat.
We want to offer options that make those decisions easier.
We Know Every Beekeeper Is Different
Some people start beekeeping as a hobby and quickly find themselves adding another hive to the backyard. Others have been keeping bees for years and know exactly what they want from their equipment.
Then there are beginners who aren't quite sure where to start. Should you choose cotton or ventilated fabric? Is a jacket enough, or would a full suit be a better choice? Which veil style would you find most comfortable?
It's perfectly normal to have questions. Every beekeeper has to learn what works best for them.
At Sting Guard, we want choosing your gear to feel straightforward. You should be able to understand the features, compare your options, and choose equipment that suits your needs without feeling overwhelmed.
And if you're unsure about something, we're happy to help.
A Little Love for the Bees
It's easy to spend a lot of time thinking about equipment, especially when you're starting out. But the best part of beekeeping is still the bees themselves.
There's something rewarding about opening a hive, watching the workers move across the frames, and seeing how the colony develops throughout the season. You learn to notice little changes, become more patient, and appreciate just how much is happening inside a hive.
Honey bees also play an important role in pollination, making their care valuable to the wider environment.
We appreciate the people who put their time and effort into looking after their colonies. Whether you keep one hive or many, we understand that having suitable equipment is part of being prepared for the work.
